He was born in a manger
And he died on a cross
In all he was doing
He did it for us
He lived for the outcast
The poor and the weak
He lived for the people
His love was unique

The words he was speaking
Were simple and true
And what he was saying
Did affect quite a few
The established religion
Didn’t like him at all
But he kept on living
Fulfilling his call

His name was Jesus
And some called him Lord
Some called him a prophet
But he was something more
He knew where he came from
And he knew why he came
To save humankind was
His calling and aim

He died on a cross, but
He rose from the grave
A long time ago now
Still living today
He’s giving his Spirit
To those who believe
He’s living in people
Who want to receive
