I’ve always had a longing to be free
Nothing binding me

The very final part of all creation
Surely an amazing thing
Wonderful to see
And great to be one
Marvellous woman

Worker and a friend and more

of what a human’s for

Women are the ones on earth who give birth
There wouldn’t be a single man

Different from a man and yet so like him
Maybe not as strong in arm
But more of charm
A stronger psyche

Who can live in compassion for a world full of hate

Who’s previewed the risen sun
Is in shape to face the darkness

And sings a song of springtime, when the winter has it’s hold
Who can trust in an other, when suspicions abound
Loving one another, when love is so hard to be found

Who believes in the future, when the end seems at hand
And sings a song of Heaven, when hell seems in command
Who can keep a head that’s clear, seeing things as they are
And yet feel joy and confidence in a love that’s never far

Seated in my easy chair I get the news report
I need a cheer from anywhere, but nothing of the sort
People dying of overweight, while the hungry increase
And the hour is getting late for disarmament and peace

Got to be smart now
Got to think with the heart now
Because the world is falling apart now

Go to see the guy next door and share my scares and fears
He says he’s heard it all before, “It’s been like this for years”
But if it dawns on you one fine day, that you’re a part of all
You see the world in a different light and it’s hard for you to stall

So you try a congressman and tell him how you feel
He ought to lend a helping hand, an upright man with zeal
Bu t his ambition to have a seat and keep it one more turn
Shuts him off from the ones in need. They can’t elect him in return

Jesus came with love in mind. They hung him on a cross
But resurrection’s a mighty sign that hope may not be lost
So whatever the bad news is, it’s not the last decree
And what good news comes out of this is up to you and me

That’s an easy thing to say
But we’ve got to deal anyway
With what we see today

Yesterday’s dead and gone

When what tomorrow has in store

Or peace and love that reigns
Putting down and caring less

Like many books in many libraries
That hardly even get a glance

And when you read them well
Each and every one has got a special meaning
A story of its own to tell

Some are shorter, some are taller
Some black and white ones
Some full color
But all have got a lot to say

Lots to say

There are so many personalities
That never do get pointed out
Like many books in many libraries
You don’t know what they’re all about
And only seeing what the cover’s like
Says nothing ‘bout the rest
But every single person that you spend some time with
Is surely gonna pass the test
